SPECIALTY: Swordfishing, Deep Dropping, Live Bait Charters

SEASONALITY:

Swordfishing is year-round for us, but colder months and springtime usually bring bigger fish. I try to pair those who want to hand-crank Swordfish in the winter and spring, as we have more action at that time, which gives an angler more chances at a swordfish.

Spring: We focus heavily on live bait charters, catching an assortment of mahi, wahoo, kingfish, tuna, and sailfish, in addition to swordfishing.

Summer: Live bait trips, and Swordfish

Winter: Swordfishing, Sailfish, Wahoo

Fall: Swordfishing and Tuna.

GENERAL AVAILABILITY:

Year-round, we plan trips over a year in advance to last-minute bookings if weather permits. I have a network of trusted captains I fish with regularly, and we can make time even in our busy schedules.

CLAIM TO FAME:

Between RJ Boyle’s platform and thousands of hours of trial and error, I became passionate about swordfishing like none other. I find myself analyzing all my catch data on a weekly basis to try and better understand how the fish act in our area and any edge we can get to increase our catch ratio. I have been swordfishing for about nine years now, and it consumes my mind. All my colleagues laugh at my pivot tables and Excel charts with minor, major, barometric pressure, temperature, bite time, and numerous other factors incorporated into the chart. But it’s things like that that teach you. This year, 92% of all of my fish over 200 pounds were caught within 30 minutes of a major, and we learned smaller fish have more sporadic bite times. Some clients who hire me for instructional days ask me to slow down as I talk about how to react to different bite scenarios the entire day. I find there are so many things to teach new sword fishermen about the basics, and even when I get together with another professional sword fisherman, we pick up tricks and tips from each other to use on our owns trips. I think what truly separates me from many captains is that I made my passion my job, but i’m not forced to do it. I have other businesses that support me financially; that way, I do not get burned out. If the boat is loaded and someone cancels, you better believe i’m still going. Instead of an eight- or ten- hour charter, it’s until the sun is setting.

Get in Touch

I offer full-service boat brokerage through our trusted local partner, Tournament Yacht Sales. I can guide you through the entire process—from listing your current vessel to helping you find the right boat for how you actually fish and spend time on the water. Anyone can help you buy or sell a boat, but where I’m different is I can step onboard with you afterward, help you learn your new setup, and teach you the nuances of fishing an unfamiliar vessel so you’re confident from day one.

I was born and raised in Jupiter, Florida, and I’ve been on the water since I was four years old. I worked my way up from a charter mate to earning my USCG Captain’s License, and for the past eight years I’ve owned and operated Ole Red’s Fishing Services. I’ve run a wide variety of boats across Florida, which gives me a real understanding of how they perform, how they fish, and what makes one setup better than another depending on your goals.

Whether you’re buying or selling, I bring both hands-on boating experience and business knowledge to make the process simple and tailored to you. My goal is to help you get into the right boat—and make sure you know how to use it to its full potential.
